The Abyssinian Development Corporation marked the bicentennial anniversary of the Abyssinian Baptist Church with a White Tie Gala at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The event was hosted by Avery Brooks and Cicely Tyson with performances by Jennifer Holiday, The Dance Theatre of Harlem, and the Abyssinian Bicentennial Choir. Special guest presentations and tributes from Congressman Charles Wrangle, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former New York Senator Hillary Clinton, and former President William Jefferson Clinton, who presented a commissioned painting by artist, Louis Delsarte to Dr. Reverend Calvin O. Butts, III in thanks for his leadership. GES provided turn-key production services for this event including coordinating directly with the Waldorf Astoria event manager on all of the logistical needs of the production, design services and stage technicians to execute the complicated logistics of this event.
